He spent 1949 with the Chicago White Sox, catching 67 games and batting .204, then moved to the Philadelphia Athletics after the season ended. He caught for the A's from 1950 through 1952, returned to Cleveland in 1952 and 1953, and finished his major league career with the Washington Senators in 1954. Across 417 games he batted .236 with 29 home runs and 125 RBI. The back of this card, shown in the photos, covers his 1947 season with Wilkes-Barre of the Eastern League, where he hit .375 and won the league batting title.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe trade that sent Tipton from Chicago to Philadelphia in October 1949 brought Nellie Fox to the White Sox in return.
