He played senior hockey with the Chatham Maroons starting in 1962, moved with the club into the International Hockey League, and then spent three seasons with the Port Huron Flags, winning the IHL's Turner Cup in 1966 and making the league's second All-Star team in 1967.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe expansion St. Louis Blues signed him as a free agent in 1967. After 11 games with the farm team in Kansas City he was called up and played his first NHL game shortly before his 28th birthday. He spent six seasons as a Blues regular, scoring 79 goals and reaching the Stanley Cup Final in each of the club's first three years.
