He spent all 13 of his NFL seasons with the Chiefs, led the AFL with nine interceptions in 1969, and led the NFL with 12 in 1974. He intercepted a pass in the Chiefs win over Minnesota in Super Bowl IV and retired with 58 career interceptions, still the franchise record. Thomas was a five time Pro Bowl selection and two time first team All-Pro. He later spent decades as an NFL assistant coach and served as interim head coach of the Falcons in 2007.
