Pittsburgh took him in the fourth round of the 1971 draft, and he spent all ten of his NFL seasons with the Steelers as the right defensive end in the Steel Curtain line alongside Joe Greene, L.C. Greenwood and Ernie Holmes. He picked up the nickname Mad Dog for the way he played.

The week before Super Bowl IX he was hospitalized in New Orleans with pneumonia and pleurisy and lost close to 20 pounds. He left the hospital, played nearly the whole game, and scored the first points of it by tackling Fran Tarkenton in the end zone for a safety. It was the first safety in Super Bowl history, and the Steelers beat Minnesota 16-6 for the first title of the run. A year later he had three sacks against Dallas in Super Bowl X, which the back of this card mentions.

White won four Super Bowls with Pittsburgh in IX, X, XIII and XIV, was voted to two Pro Bowls, and is credited with 46 sacks, a figure that comes from team records since sacks were not an official NFL statistic during his career. He died in 2008 at age 58.

Ships in the PSA holder, packed securely with tracking.
