The Houston Astros selected him 21st overall in the 2025 draft and signed him for $4.12 million, the organization's largest bonus since Alex Bregman in 2015, buying him out of an Oregon State commitment. He was the first high school position player Houston had taken in the first round since Kyle Tucker in 2015, and the highest pick out of Washington state since Corbin Carroll in 2019.
