1927 Standing Liberty Quarter - 25C - PCGS MS65 FH (Full Head)

Certification Number: 5761.65/52040399

Graded and encapsulated by PCGS with a final grade of MS65 FH, in the current PCGS gold shield holder. The label reads 1927, 25C, PCGS MS65FH, with cert number 5761.65/52040399 printed on it, matching the slab pictured, which is the exact item you will receive. This card has a PCGS TrueView image on file under the cert number, shown in the photos.

CONDITION

Presented honestly at the assigned grade. At MS65 FH this is a gem mint state example carrying the Full Head designation, which PCGS awards only when the head of Liberty shows full detail, a distinction that is genuinely difficult to find on Standing Liberty quarters because the head was among the first areas to wear or strike weakly. The coin shows a full strike, satiny original surfaces, and light natural toning, with the eagle on the reverse well detailed. Please review the photos closely, as they are of the actual coin and form part of the description. As always with slabbed coins, the holder may show minor handling from storage.

ABOUT THE COIN

The Standing Liberty quarter was designed by Hermon MacNeil and struck from 1916 to 1930 in 90 percent silver. This 1927 is a Philadelphia issue from the later Type 2 design. The obverse depicts Liberty standing in a gateway holding a shield and olive branch, and the reverse an eagle in flight. The Full Head designation is the key value driver on this series: because the design detail on Liberty's head wears quickly and often struck weakly, gem examples with a Full Head command a strong premium over the same grade without it, and they are actively sought by type collectors and Standing Liberty specialists alike. A gem MS65 FH is a coin that displays beautifully and represents the design as it was meant to look.
