The Gallery of Gold design is the one people stop on. A real gold-colored metal frame wraps the outside, and inside that the photo sits within a painted ornate gallery frame with scrollwork corners, so the whole thing reads like a miniature framed painting rather than a card. Smoltz is shown mid-delivery in Braves home whites. His signature is large, fluid, and laid right across the open portion of the image in dark blue with no skipping or fading.

Condition is clean. The metal frame is straight with no bends or dings, the corners are square, and the surfaces are free of scratches front and back. Ungraded and raw, exactly as pictured. Cards built into metal frames like this are awkward to submit for grading, so most of them live raw and get displayed as-is, which is a large part of the appeal.

John Smoltz is the third arm of the greatest starting rotation of the modern era, alongside Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine, and he built a career no one else in baseball history has matched. He won the National League Cy Young in 1996, made eight All-Star teams, and won a World Series with Atlanta in 1995. When elbow trouble pushed him out of the rotation, he moved to the bullpen and saved 154 games in 168 chances over three and a half seasons, including 55 in 2002, which still stands as the most ever by a National League closer. He then went back to starting. He finished 213-155 with 154 saves and 3,084 strikeouts, the only pitcher ever to reach 200 wins and 150 saves.

He was also one of the great October pitchers, going 15-4 with a 2.67 ERA across 41 postseason appearances, and he is the only Brave who was part of all fourteen consecutive division titles from 1991 through 2005. He went into Cooperstown on the first ballot in 2015.
