Description
Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1878—the inaugural year of George T. Morgan’s iconic design—this AU 53 Morgan Dollar is authenticated in ANACS’s collectible soapbox holder. It belongs to the scarce VAM-171 Top 100 variety, distinguished by a broken right “R” on the coronet and bold die clashing through Liberty’s hair. Honest circulation wear lightly softens only Liberty’s cheek and the eagle’s breast, leaving sharp feather and hair detail intact against an original antique-silver patina. With no cleaning and minimal bag marks, it bridges the gap between XF and Mint State at a sensible certified grade.
